Drinking bottled water where good quality tap water is available is pointless. We use plastic bottles because they are convenient and can be bought practically everywhere. We might refill the plastic bottles a few more times, but eventually we throw them away. Tap water is a good solution, which is also the opinion of dr. Lučka Kajfež Bogataj, a well known Slovenian climatologist and member of the IPCC: ‘’I’m glad that people who care and are innovative as well still exist.’’

EU residents buy 104 l of bottled water per year (data for 2009), and US residents even 110 l per person in a year (Energy implications of bottled water,2007). A comparison between bottled and tap water in the movie featured below surprised people in the USA:

Let’s use Flaška for drinking water. It is kind to environment, our health and our wallet as well. It is our personal bottle which we use every day at home, at work, in the car or while exercising.

Every plastic bottle counts. Every Flaška counts. We calculated Flaška’s carbon footprint and determined that by using Flaška we can cut carbon emissions of our water drinking averagely for 95 % of CO2e.

Water is also one of the most important elements of life. Often we are not aware of its value.

  • The body of an adult person contains 70% of water, newborn baby’s body even 80%
  • When we start feeling  thirsty, our body already lost app. 1% of water’s share
  • A human can live one month without food and 1 week without water
  • We can prevent different diseases by drinking good quality water because we flush different bacteria from our body
  • pH of clean water is neutral
  • Earth’s water system is an enclosed system (rarely any water gets lost or gained) which means that the same water exists for millions of years
  • 70 – 75 % of Earth’s surface is covered by water
